There's a few things I'd like to get done before NaNo starts:

- get all my leftover leather panels made up into notebooks and listed.  It's easiest to sell ready-mades and flaws before Christmas, so if I can get them done this week I'm not flailing about closer to the time, or in Nov. when I could be writing.  I only have one outstanding order right now (waiting for my elastic order to finish it), so it's a good time.

- finish my Little Mermaid retelling.  Not gonna happen, because it's turned into a bloody novel, but a girl can dream.

- finish reading my guide to police procedure and the various writing books I wanted to get through before leaping into my NaNo project.  I have most of it plotted out and have written a lot of snippets (which have received a pretty good response), but for NaNo I'm doing the proper fill-in for the bits where my scene index-cards just say 'and then X happens'.  Finishing the reading is unlikely to happen too, but dreams!

- I kinda want to ask some people in my NaNo area if they'd like to set up some impromptu meetings.  It's a hassle for me to get to the meets that have been set up, as they all involve public transport and a long walk, and I've got a certain limit before my nervous system nopes out, but my town is mid-point between some of the outlying peeps and the official meetings.  I mean, it's an hour and a half for the person in Skelton to get to a meet in her car, and only half an hour to my town.  Not sure of the internal politics though.  It would be easier if I could just say "come to my house!" I think, but my house is tiny and it's still a tip from AXA taking so long to clear the leak in our kitchen (Last Nov. until May of this year).  We got used to working around stuff, and there's always something more pressing than tidying (in related news, this weekend I'm going to take a shot at fixing the taps, since the previous five workmen we've had in seem to have learned their trade from YouTube videos anyway.  I'd say wish me luck, but I need way more than luck).

- clear more of my workroom so I can finally get set up in there again instead of having all my shit cluttering up the bedroom.  See above comments about house being a wreck.

That's a good list. You've got a week still, so I'm sure you'll make a dent in it. :)

I'm pretty impressed that your list includes "get a ton of writing done in October to make space for extra writing in November". Go you! Good luck!

Lol this is a familiar problem... I need fewer ideas or faster fingers.

I used to organise unofficial NaNo write-ins in my varying regions because they didn't have ones at a time or place convenient to me. It was quite fun. Both my regional MLs (Seattle and London) were more than happy to have people setting up their own write-ins, as long as they didn't clash with the ones the MLs organised.

I'm (probably) taking the year off from NaNo. Have fun!

is your Little Mermaid retelling closer to the original or the Disney?
